About this Module
This course introduces the fundamentals of how drugs work, and it all begins with the autonomic nervous system, which is integral to understanding how diagnostic drugs work. You will first gain a good understanding of the autonomic nervous system, and go on to learn how certain pupil defects such as Horner’s or Adie’s come about. Next, you will learn the common diagnostic drugs used for ophthalmic investigations. These include tropicamide, phenylephrine, cyclopentolate, and atropine. The course will end with how local anaesthetics work, and how the different types of stains or dyes that can help with diagnosing ocular diseases.
