The hospitality industry is constantly changing. Globalisation, effects of the pandemic, fluctuating business conditions, and industry-wide focus on sustainability are just some of the forces converging and driving widespread change. The result is an industry that requires future leaders to be well-versed in current and emerging management practices, with the versatility to adapt to market trends and developments.
A defining aspect of this industry is that hospitality businesses rely heavily on providing excellent customer service. They also depend largely on disposable incomes, hence brand loyalty is essential. In view of this uniqueness, the Hospitality Business Management module focuses on the application of business management concepts to the operations in various hospitality sectors.
Through a series of real-life scenarios, the module aims to provide students with an understanding of the business environment that hospitality organisations operate in, as well as the knowledge and analytical skills to examine management and operational functions unique to the hospitality industry. Students will not only be able to understand how a hospitality business is managed from a broad perspective, but also apply the concepts and theories taught to daily issues and trends.
